Sameed Khatana, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine and a physician at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC) in Philadelphia. He also serves as the Associate Director of the Penn Cardiovascular Outcomes, Quality, and Evaluative Research (CAVOQER) Center and as a Senior Fellow in the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his medical school training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School as part of the Medical Management Leadership Track, and his cardiology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He also received a Master of Public Health degree at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He has worked as a fellow at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation on the delivery of diabetes prevention programs for Medicare patients.
Dr. Khatana’s research interests include understanding the impact of socioeconomic and environmental factors on cardiovascular health and health disparities as well as quantitative evaluation of the health impact of public policies. He has received grant support from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association. His research has been published in high impact medical journals including JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, and Circulation. His work has been publicized by multiple news outlets includes CNN, Reuters, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
