Profile
Yuvaram Reddy, MBBS, MPH is a nephrologist and implementation scientist dedicated to narrowing disparities in home dialysis use for patients with kidney failure and addressing health inequities in kidney disease. His research draws from methodologies in health services research and implementation science. His research focuses on a) understanding barriers to home dialysis, b) developing implementation strategies to address disparities in home dialysis use, and c) evaluating the impact of health policy in kidney disease. He is a recipient of a VA Advancing Diversity in Implementation Leadership (ADIL) award and a Health Systems Research (HSR) VA Career Development award, both focused on understanding barriers to home dialysis and improving equitable access to home dialysis. His prior work in home dialysis has been funded by the VA, NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, the Leonard Davis Institute, and the American Society of Nephrology.
As Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for the Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension Division, he launched a new training opportunity to develop DEI leaders: the Chief DEI Fellow in Nephrology. Each year, the Chief DEI fellow develops a health equity quality improvement project. In the first year of the program, he worked with his Chief DEI fellow to secure funding from the VA Office of Research and Development and the VA Office of Health Equity to develop a trauma-informed approach to address systemic racism in VA clinics. This training opportunity has expanded to include a cohort of trainees who participate in BLOOM-DEI, a training pathway designed to build leadership skills in DEI.
Dr. Reddy received his MBBS degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute and his MPH degree from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Boston Medical Center and Nephrology fellowship at Mass General Brigham. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology's Quality Committee and the Home Dialysis Steering Committee.
Dr. Reddy lives in Philadelphia with his partner. He enjoys cooking without a recipe, escaping from escape rooms, and trying to keep his plants alive.
