Department of Veterans Affairs Advanced Fellowship in Women’s Health for  Associated Health Professionals, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System

The Women’s Health (WH) Fellowship at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is recruiting associated health professionals for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship program. The goal of the program is to cultivate women’s health research professionals to develop careers that will contribute to the VA’s core missions of: 1) delivering high quality gender specific care to women veterans, 2) educating the next generation of providers to provide this same high quality of care and, 3) evaluating both the delivery and quality of care for women veterans.

This interdisciplinary program aims to train associated health professionals for an academic research career with a focus on women’s health. Individualized, mentored research and clinical training is combined with a curriculum that emphasizes research methods, statistics, epidemiology, quality improvement methods, education, and service delivery. Mentoring involves a VA-based investigator and (as appropriate) a co-mentor from our academic affiliate, the University of Pittsburgh. All Fellows, regardless of discipline, will be expected to:  1) have a clinical presence of at least 25% in the VA Pittsburgh Women’s Health Center, if appropriate 2) attend and participate in the weekly WH Seminar series and the twice yearly VA WH Update; and 3) attend (with mentor) and present at the Interdisciplinary Fellowship Seminar where progress in meeting goals is reviewed and feedback is given by the Fellowship Advisory Committee. Fellows must be U.S. citizens.

How to Apply:  Interested associated health professionals who meet the eligibility requirements should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcripts, and three letters of recommendation to Megan Houlihan, MPPM (mmh67@pitt.edu).
